Personal Branding versus Affiliate Marketing

When I was working as an Internet sales manager for Carl Gregory Hyundai I built many lenses at Squidoo.com as personal branding pieces to generate leads to sell cars to.  Now that I am no longer employed there I have started a process of converting them over to affiliate marketing landing pages and have received some feedback because of it.

Mostly it has been negative by old school car guys who think they are masters of Internet marketing.  People who “Get it” have been very supportive and understand that lead gen companies go after search terms the exact same way, I just present my calls to action a little stronger then they do.

I have also created other pages there that tap into markets that I have never been in and that is where the majority of negative feedback is coming from.  I actually wasted several hours today in an email exchange with an individual trying to brow beat me into taking down a lens that shows up in the search engines for some very non competitive search terms.  It was created to show how easy it is to show up in competing markets with little effort.  What is even better it is generating around $60 a month in income.  Not a get rich deal but at the same time if those types of properties are stacked on top of each other they can provide a sustainable income source over time.

Well I have wasted enough time on this today it is time to move on.
