The Perils of Blogging

I maintain several high traffic blogs as well as some that do not receive much traffic at all.   Because of my blogging I have raised the dander of a few in the past.  However I have always been careful to not publish anything that would place me in legal peril, so I thought.

A recent article I did concerning an automotive training session titled the “Master of eMarketing” really touched the nerve of the owner of the company that was providing this training program.  While I had decided that the topic was done and time to move onto other things I was contacted by this individual, almost innocently I think.

Once I questioned his motives he sent the following email:

My apology for accidentally calling you. I was actually trying to reach Carl Gregory Hyundai, your former employer doing research concerning my case.

I used the phone number on their Hyundai web site and, unfortunately, it was still your phone number. It was not intentional.  Sorry to bother you.

X.X Xxxxx (redacted) and I and my employees have been instructed by attorney NOT to communicate you while we have an ongoing legal case happening. I am sure you understand…JIM

Xxxxx X Xxxxxxx, CSP, HSG (redacted)
This Man Means Business (R)

He is claiming that he is going to sue me for calling him out on unethical marketing practices.  To make a long story short he scrapped email address off of a social networking site and used them to send non can spam compliant emails.  Claiming to be a “Master of eMarketing”.

I don’t know your opinion but mine is if you are going to proclaim to be a master of something you better get it right, each and every time.  I do not remember Yoda making mistakes, do you?

Now it appears that I have a legal problem.  The gentleman’s product I reviewed is a typical blow hard that runs a column in an automotive industry rag where he trashes OEM’s and different automotive vendors in the marketplace.  He alludes to suing people in most of his articles that he publishes.  He can dish it out but he can’t take it.  And now he is telling colleagues of mine in the industry that he is suing me in addition to the email I received above.

He has already caused me problems with a former employer and is doing the his best to destroy relationships I have built with colleagues in the industry.

I really can’t wait until he has me served!!
