Online communities are the back bone of web 2.0 and I belong to many of them. Some of the ones I belong to talk about online automotive marketing, affiliate marketing, children with cleft lips and credit repair resources.
The dynamics that exist in these communities are amazing. There are leaders, followers, whiners and self promoters. Exactly what you would expect in any networking environment online or off.
I have also come under fire in an online forum for speaking out about how bad an idea NetAudioAds is. People inside of their community are taking a vendetta approach because I have published a blog about the holes in the advertising platform and how it goes against web 2.0 conventions. What is amazing the person behind this push has a closet full of skeletons and has taken it upon himself to attack my family. This is probably not the type of exposure that NetAudioAds and PayPerPlay needs to be viable.
As you can see there are many good uses for online communities and uses that can be down right viscous. For the most part I feel that they are worth the effort for the networking opportunities they represent, but when they are used in an attempt to damage ones family they should be shut down with a quickness.
